MACK JONES – Get in the know!

Earlier this year, we added Canadian heart throb, Mack Jones, to our team. Mack Jones is 1/2 of the skiers [The other is Rob Heule] and 1/3 of the talent to be featured in Ski The North, a new web movie from those who brought you Meanwhile in Canada. We wanted to make sure you were in the know – so now you know!

How did you get involved with the Ski The North Crew?

Rob and I spent several seasons shooting with the Voleurz crew, as well as with filmer Graeme Meiklejohn’s company PYP (alongside Pat King), and got to know each other super well through that. When Voleurz called it quits, Rob and I still wanted keep skiing and filming together, so we teamed up with Graeme to do our own thing. Last year was our first movie, Meanwhile in Canada, where we RV’d across Canada… so this year we decided to do continue the trend by heading North.

What was the best part about being on the road?

So many things! Skiing. Exploring. Driving. Finding cool spots. Wildlife. Incredibly non-nutritious snacks. Finding Chug. RV life in general is hilarious… and cramped.

What can we expect from the next edit?

A good old road trip style video with a whole bunch of street skiing! That sounds over-the-top cliché, but oh well, it’s true. We had no plan other than to point ourselves north to the Yukon with zero expectations about what we’d find, and managed to find some cool things to ski. Not many people go up there, let alone to ski, so yeah, expect that!

Where did you grow up skiing and how did that influence your style?

I learned to ski in Ottawa, Ontario on the east coast! Cold nights hiking rails and bulletproof landings on the small hills definitely teaches you to get creative with what you’ve got. Seeing my hometown hero Dave Crichton ski at our local hills (and in movies!) also had a huge influence on the way I ski.

What lead you to being on the Line team?

Everything Line does is what I like about skiing: making the most of what you can find, being creative, and having as much fun as possible. The team is also awesome – pretty much the entire Line team are the skiers I like to watch and ski with most, so I’m stoked to join the squad!

What’s on your skiing playlist?

Sexy R&B and top 40 hits. Kidding, you’ve probably never heard of them, they’re pretty underground.

What’s your biggest influence outside of skiing?

Sports! I’m not going to lie, I really like sports. I also go to school, it’s nice to learn cool things about neat stuff.

Any additional hobbies?

As mentioned above, sports. That, and being a grammar nazi on all social media platforms. If you misspell something, I’m coming after you. You’re and your, know the difference.

What’s the last movie you watched?

Mad Max! I think I’m still tired from that non-stop car chase.

What’s for dinner?

I’m in Whistler at the moment, so I think I’d be lying to myself and everyone if I didn’t say Earls, and probably for the next few nights.

Anything else to add?

Super stoked to be a part of the Line family! This season has been an awesome first year with Line, first shooting with Legs of Steel alongside Rob in Alberta and then exploring the north for this new project. Can’t wait for glacier skiing to start this summer and for winter to come back around! Hope you like Ski The North!

Thanks friends!
