What is the Tell A Friend Tour, Where is it headed and Who’s going?
Tell A Friend Tour is a freeskiing park tour that travels to resorts film, ski with fans, and then hold a free raffle/pizza party. This year we are visiting resorts in VT, MA, CT, PA, WV, OH, MN, and WI. Ross Imburgia, Charlie Dayton, Ian Compton, Cole Drexler, Allan Lam, and other Line Skis regional riders.
Why? Why create the Tell A Friend Tour?
Over the last seven years of filming Line Traveling Circus, we visited a lot of resorts other people never really go to. A lot of these places had tons of kids that are really into freeskiing but they aren’t really on any ones radar. These skiers are the bread and butter of the ski industry and it only makes sense to bring a ski event directly to them.
TAFT represents what freeskiing was when I started in 2002. Fun, but also serious about progression because your hungry for it. It was about learning a new trick with a bunch of friends and pushing each other because it was fun. None of us really went out of our way to “train” for comps but still competed at local events, and used them for a source of community more then anything. It’s true freeskiing, and that what I want to show the next generation. Not comp skiing, not film skiing – just freeskiing.
With the Traveling Circus, you’ve criss-crossed the country multiple times – What are the top five bits of advice you’d give anyone who’s about to head out on the open road?
1. Need dental floss? Rip a small strand of the elastic out of a sock.
2. Don’t be a tool to fast food. Find a grocery store.
3. Download audio books for long trips.
4. When driving at night place a small dimly lit LED over your head.
5. Avoid drinking things like Monster, RockStar and Redbull All the sugar and other stuff they put in those will just make you crash harder, and feel sick. Slowly sip coffee, and get a 5 hour energy.
What’s your favorite stop?
I’m really looking forward to all the stops. Each one is going to have a different crowd of skiers, and things set up. Can’t really say I have a favorite stop but last year we had the best showing at Ski Sundown, CT and had a really good crew of kids at Butternut, MA.
